Indoor Saunas 2

Indoor Saunas

Bring authentic Finnish wellness into your home with a Skotlanti indoor sauna – handcrafted in Scotland, tailored to your space, and built to last for decades. Whether you’re adding a compact home sauna to a basement, en-suite, or home gym, or planning a larger installation as the centrepiece of a wellness suite, every Skotlanti indoor sauna is designed and built around your home, your space, and the way you’ll use it.

Each indoor sauna is built using premium thermo-treated timber, fitted with industry-leading heaters, and installed by our own team, not shipped flat-pack. We work with homeowners directly, and alongside architects and interior designers on residential projects across Scotland and the wider UK.

Where a Skotlanti Indoor Sauna Works Best

An indoor sauna can transform almost any space in the home into a wellness retreat. The key is matching the design to the room, the access, and the way you’ll use it.

Basement & lower-ground floors:

Often the easiest space to retrofit a sauna into, with the structural depth, ventilation potential, and thermal isolation that work in a sauna’s favour.

Home gyms & wellness suites:

Pairing a sauna with a home gym is one of the fastest-growing requests we see. Recovery, contrast therapy, and a clear post-workout ritual.

Master en-suites & bathrooms:

A more refined, glass-fronted indoor sauna integrated into a luxury bathroom design.

Installation, Integration, and Aftercare

A Skotlanti indoor sauna is delivered and installed by our specialist team. We handle site assessment, electrical and ventilation requirements, manufacture, delivery, and final commissioning, so what you receive is a fully working sauna, not a self-build project.

Every installation includes guidance on running, maintenance, and the small details that keep a sauna performing for decades. Lead times typically range from a couple of weeks from order, depending on specification.

Indoor Sauna FAQs

How much does an indoor home sauna cost?

Skotlanti indoor saunas range in price, with pricing depending on size, finishes, heater type, glazing, and installation requirements. We’ll provide a full quote based on your space and specification.

What space do I need for an indoor sauna?

Indoor saunas can be installed in spaces from around 2.2 cubic metres upward. The most important constraints are ceiling height (typically 2.0m minimum) and access route to the installation room. We’ll assess your space as part of the quote process.

Can I install an indoor sauna in a basement?

Yes, basements are one of the most common locations for a home sauna. We assess ventilation, electrical supply, and floor build-up as standard, and adapt the design accordingly.

Do I need planning permission for an indoor sauna?

An indoor sauna is generally treated as an internal home improvement and does not require planning permission. Building regulations apply to electrical and ventilation work, we’ll guide you through these as part of your installation.

Can you build a sauna into a master bathroom or en-suite?

Yes – en-suite saunas are one of our most-requested residential installations. For larger or fully-custom installations of this kind, we’d typically deliver the project through our bespoke saunas service.

Do you install indoor saunas across the UK?

Yes. We’re based in Glasgow and install indoor saunas across Scotland and the rest of mainland UK.

What’s the difference between an indoor and outdoor sauna?

Indoor saunas are integrated into your home – basement, en-suite, gym, or wellness suite. Outdoor saunas are standalone garden installations. See our outdoor sauna range.

Container sauna FAQs

How much does a container sauna cost?

A standard Skotlanti container sauna is £49,000 including VAT, delivered. Bespoke specifications, custom interiors, and additional features are quoted individually.

Can a container sauna be used commercially?

Yes – Skotlanti container saunas are built to commercial standards. The HUUM Hive Flow 9.5kW heater, Thermo wood interior, and shipping container shell are all specified for high-frequency, year-round commercial use.

Do I need planning permission for a container sauna?

In most cases, a container sauna sits on a temporary or semi-permanent footing and falls within permitted development for many commercial sites, but this depends on your location, intended use, and how long the unit will remain in place. We always recommend confirming with your local authority before installation.

How many people does it fit?

Our standard container sauna seats up to 12, making it ideal for team recovery sessions, group bookings, and commercial wellness use.

Can a container sauna be moved later?

Yes – that’s the core advantage of a container build. The unit can be lifted by crane and relocated to a new site as your needs change. This makes it a flexible asset for events, pop-ups, and operators with multiple sites.

What’s the difference between a container sauna and an outdoor sauna?

Outdoor saunas are typically permanent timber structures designed for residential gardens. Container saunas are built into a steel shipping container shell, designed for commercial use, higher capacity, and relocatability. Visit our outdoor sauna range.

Do you offer bespoke container saunas?

Yes – alongside our standard specification, we build fully bespoke container saunas with custom interiors, branding, sizing variations, and commercial fit-outs. Get in touch to discuss bespoke options.

Outdoor sauna FAQs

How much does an outdoor sauna cost in the UK?

Skotlanti outdoor saunas range in pricing, with pricing depending on the model, finishes, heater type, and installation requirements. Bespoke and larger configurations are quoted individually. Get in touch for a tailored quote.

Do I need planning permission for an outdoor sauna?

In most cases, an outdoor sauna falls within permitted development rights as a garden outbuilding, but rules vary depending on your property type, plot size, and location. We always recommend checking with your local authority before installation.

How long does an outdoor sauna last?

A well-built outdoor sauna using thermo-treated timber typically lasts 20+ years with basic maintenance. All Skotlanti outdoor saunas come with a warranty. Sauna heaters come with their separate manufacturers warranty.

Can I use an outdoor sauna all year round?

Yes. Our outdoor saunas are designed for year-round use in the UK and Scottish climate, including winter. The combination of cold outdoor temperatures and a hot sauna is the traditional Finnish experience our designs are built around.

What’s the difference between an outdoor sauna and a garden sauna?
